#LLglam - Gold and Black Striping Tape Mani

For this month's "Glam" theme I instantly thought of gold and black. I decided to try a gold glitter and black striping tape mani inspired by The Nailasaurus' Great Gatsby Mani. I really love the colors she used and the Art Deco look but I thought the lines might be a bit too complicated for me since I'm just starting to use striping tape. I decided to try copying the lines from her "Could Have Foiled Me" mani instead but I had a lot of trouble getting the striping tape to stick, especially the little side pieces. I think this is because I took swatch pictures of the gold glitter on it's own before applying the striping tape. I put on some cuticle oil for the pictures and although I washed my hands with soap I think there was still some residue on my nails which made it hard for the tape to stick. You can see on my ring finger that I mostly copied the lines from the design, except I used a single piece across the nail instead of the two side pieces in her design. I didn't really like the way it looked with the side pieces connected so I just played around with the striping tape and did random lines on my other nails instead. The striping tape worked better in larger pieces going across the entire nail but it still lifted a bit especially at the edges. I ended up getting black where I didn't want it. Luckily I was able to clean it up with acetone and my clean up brush without also removing the gold. It was actually much easier to fix than I thought it would be! :)

What I used:
Color Club - Celebrity Sparkle (3 coats)
Avon Rapid Black (1 coat)
Color Club Top Coat

I got this polish in a giveaway... It is a Yahoo exclusive and I don't think it's available for purchase anywhere... sorry!

    1. I think I had black + Deborah Lippmann Boom Boom Pow on...

I feel like I can't pose my hand nicely with my thumb so I only post pictures of my other 4 fingers... so sometimes I get lazy with the other fingers that aren't getting photographed especially if I'm in a rush or doing something that takes especially long haha I try to always make sure the rest of my fingers match though at least in terms of color :)
