Hi girls (and guys?) see I really am trying to get back on track with my posting! Here's another item I received from Born Pretty Store for review. I'm really loving all the charms/studs/rhinestones they sent me... really easy way to add interest to an otherwise plain mani!
Here's a closer look at the studs. The back of the studs is hollow as you can see. I found this made it much easier to stick them firmly into the semi-wet topcoat. These were the best charms in terms of laying flat on the nail and staying put (I think I had this on for over a week?!). Here is the link if you are interested in purchasing some of these studs. :) Don't forget to use my code SL10K31 for 10% off!
I started with 2 coats of China Glaze Stone Cold. To stick on the studs I applied Deborah Lippman Flat Top matte top coat, waited until it was about half dry, and then stuck on the studs. I found it easiest to pick up the studs with my finger (like you would pick up a contact lens) and then touch my semi-wet nail to the stud (to avoid accidentally dropping the stud in the wrong spot). Since the back of these is hollow you can't slide them around without making your top coat underneath lumpy. I finished by applying another coat of Flat Top to seal in the studs.
I noticed that Flat Top changed the finish of the polish a bit. It is still matte but more smooth looking and less suede textured if that makes sense. Here is a swatch of Stone Cold on it's own
Its great to hear these studs work well for you. I don't use mine nearly enough. Love it against the suede polish too.
ReplyDeletethanks Lisa! I like the studs with the suede finish too... I wish I had more suede polishes!
