Busy Girl Nail Art Challenge - Oxblood

I've been really horrible at posting again :( my laptop got a virus and I had to try to reformat it... except I couldn't get it to work lol... and then I finally moved out of my parents place so I've been pretty busy moving my stuff out slowly while still working and going to school... Anyway on to the nails!

This is 2 coats of OPI Lost on Lombard from the San Francisco collection. I love San Francisco and I'm loving a lot of the colors from this collection! Still have to track down Alcatraz Rocks... might need to order that one online. Formula on this was quite good. This color is a classic dark red with a bit of orange/brick tone to it. This color reminds me of the buildings in Chinatown... a classic red but a bit kind of faded I guess

When I started this challenge I really wanted to try and do some kind of nail art for each challenge prompt. I attempted a red and black saran wrap mani for this prompt. Unfortunately it didn't work out as I envisioned it... I feel like it ended up looking like a scab lol. I don't think it shows up that well in my picture but the red base wasn't fully dry when I tried to do the saran wrap technique over it so some of the red came off leaving the pink nail showing so it really looked like a scab.

I thought about maybe using the hairspray water spotted technique instead but it was getting really late so I ended up pairing it with a gold glitter, Sinful Colors All About You. I didn't really like this mani either but since it was getting so late I settled for it. I wanted to do blood drips for this challenge but I felt like it was too early for Halloween. And then when Halloween came around I didn't get around to it and it didn't match my costume lol.

The red and gold looked nice in some lighting but reminded me a bit too much of Chinese New Year haha. The glitter also flashed green in some lighting which I didn't like.

Here are the rest of the prompts for the challenge... Hopefully I can catch up!

Busy Girl Nail Art Challenge - Pink / Breast Cancer Awareness Mani

Quick post again since I really should be studying for my midterm... Which is tomorrow... and I'm totally not ready! :( Hope everyone else is having a better week!

Here are my Pink Nails for the second week of the Busy Girl Nail Art Challenge

Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and this mani is very pink I guess I can also count this mani for that as well :)

Monday Blues with some forgotten favorites!

Another super quick post... I'm staying up late again to post when I should be sleeping!

I couldn't decide what to wear for this week's Monday Blues... I felt like I had exhausted all the blues in my rotation... Then I was scrolling through my instagram feed and saw a swatch of a polish that reminded me of China Glaze Dorothy Who? I can't believe I forgot all about this polish! I used to wear it all the time when I first got it 2 years ago... before I really got into nail blogging

Avon Opalescence Opal Top Coat over Black

In a way I hate posting polishes like these... anything iridescent, duo-chrome, holo, or otherwise color shifting. I end up taking a million pictures to try to capture the polish, never really succeed 100%, and then spend forever trying to pick the pictures that I will actually post so I don't have to edit them all. Anyway... Here's the best my camera and I could do with Avon's Opal Top Coat.

Busy Girl Nail Art Challenge - Gold

I've been meaning to do a nail art challenge for a while now but I've been too busy... I finally found one I thought I could handle... this one is only once a week and doesn't require me to freehand draw anything yay!

This week's theme is Antique Gold... I don't unfortunately own any antique gold polishes... or many gold polishes even. I have a gold foil metallic, 2 gold microglitters, a gold chunky glitter, gold flakie, and OPI Honey Ryder which is what I ended up picking.

Hard Candy - Jelly Bean Blue

Bleh it's Monday again :( That means a full 8 hour day of work and then 3 hours of school for me... I feel like the weekend went by way too fast! I don't know where it went.

Anyway the one good thing about Mondays is getting to see everyone's blue nails!

Color Club - Beyond (dark grey holo)

Sorry I've been busy... again! It's almost midterm time and I'm so behind on reading... I think I'm also getting sick :(

Anyway I'm going to TRY to post twice a week... Monday and Friday... and see how that goes

For today here is another Color Club Halo Hues holo :)

Color Club - Over the Moon (Blue Holo!)

Ok so I technically missed Monday again... but as long as I post it before I go to bed I think it still counts right? I've been really busy working full time and going to school at the same time so sorry about the lack of posts! I've barely been painting my nails... I left my last mani (the half moon gradient) on for a full 8 days... it wore remarkably well but my nails were all like split and crumbling underneath :(

Anyway I'm sure you've all heard me whine enough lately about how busy I am. This is from the Color Club Halo Hues 2013 collection. The formula on this was really good. No streaking or dragging. Shown is 2 coats. It was a bit sheer but the holo distracts from it so you could probably get away with 1 if you're lazy and aren't going to be taking pictures of it. I'm pretty tired and don't have much else to say so I'll just leave you with picture spam of this amazing blue holographic polish.

Pictures taken without flash in indoor lighting. Not sure what kind of bulb it is but it's track lighting if that helps...

Here is what it looks like when the light isn't bringing out the crazy holo

Thanks for stopping by!

Good night!

Deborah Lippmann Mermaid's Dream + Boom Boom Pow!

Deborah Lippmann - Mermaid's Dream
Deborah Lippmann - Boom Boom Pow!

UGH! Stupid blogger! I posted this yesterday from my phone... I had it saved as a draft so I could publish it later on if I didn't get around to writing a post... Somehow it posted BUT it posted under the date that I had typed it up... So it was hidden a few posts back... And looked like I was on a blogging hiatus... Anyway I'm reposting it now because I'm not sure if it showed up in bloglovin' etc feeds... Sorry if you're seeing this again... I will have a new post this weekend... Ok end rant... On to the original post...

I think this mani is from maybe 2 or 3 months ago? I almost didn't post this because looking at it now I feel like the clean up is so terrible... and my cuticles are so dry... and I think I broke my index finger nail it's kind of nubbin-like... I think my pictures have improved a lot since!

I think I used 3 coats of Mermaid's Dream but I can't honestly remember now. And one semi-dabbed coat of Boom Boom Pow! I love the look of gold glitter layered over Mermaid's Dream. Mermaid's Dream has a bit of gold micro glitter in it already and this brings it out more. Green and gold is always a nice combination I think. The way the light is hitting the gold glitter in these pictures is making it look a bit garish... it looked better in real life trust me :)

White Nails - OPI Alpine Snow + Which is Witch?

3 coats of OPI - Alpine Snow
1-2 coats of OPI - Which is Witch for the glitter gradient

I read on All Lacquered Up that white nails with glitter tips are trending right now. I think white is the only color that I've never worn on my nails. Sure I've used it as a base for neons/gradients/water marbling but I've never worn it on it's own. But I'll definitely try anything on my nails once! I'm not that adventurous with clothes or other makeup but nails sure :)

I'm not sure if I like them or not. They are very bright and just... blank looking I feel like it looks weird. One of my friends told me to take it off lol but I got a few compliments on it from coworkers as well. The white with glitter made me think of Las Vegas and also weddings... maybe not together though I imagine those drive through wedding brides having those awful French mani acrylics that look really fake and plasticy haha. The combo was pretty but I think maybe it was just too much? It's been almost a week since I took these off and I'm still undecided.

How do you feel about this look?

Btw... for some reason the glitter in Which is Witch kept falling off even with topcoat. I ended up with a bunch of circular holes where you could tell there was once glitter. It was annoying. I was leaving a trail of glitter haha

Essie Tart Deco + Cute as a Button Gradient + Hard Candy Black Tie Optional and New Camera!

Hello nail polish addicts! I've abandoned my blog for far too long... pretty much an entire month! :( I went on vacation for 2 weeks and then just couldn't really get back into blogging. I was pretty jetlagged for the first week or so that I was back... and now I'm currently having a quarter-life crisis. I'm seriously thinking about going back to school. I currently have a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Psychology and am giving up hope of finding a decent job with it lol. I am thinking about going back to school for accounting but I'm worried it will be too boring and I won't like it....

Anyway I'm sure you're here to see my nails! I'll post vacation pictures later maybe... would anyone be interested in seeing them?

Vacation time!

I'm going on vacation for 2 weeks so I'll probably be on hiatus... Not that I've been very good at posting anyway :p

Here is my current vacation mani

OPI - My Very First Knockwurst
Stamping with Konad m57 and Konad black special polish
Applied poshe top coat and then Deborah Lippmann Flat Top to make it matte

Disappointed that Poshe smeared my stamping a bit :( I was liking it over Seche Vite so far because it doesn't smell as horrible and I believe has less harmful chemicals but I guess over nail art it can't compete.

Hopefully this post shows up ok I'm trying to post via email for the first time!
