Today's Twinsie Tuesday prompt is "Marbling (dry/needle/water)." I have watermarbled a few times before but I never managed to get neat lines/shapes. I was planning to give it another try for this prompt but I just didn't end up having time this weekend :( I actually ended up doing this mani and post Monday night (currently writing at 12:45 AM local time! lol so last minute this week :p) So I decided to try drag marbling again instead. I've tried drag marbling a few times before but gave up and took it off because I would always get bald spots from my lines. This tutorial from Simply Nailogical was quite helpful and colors for this mani were inspired by @sveta_sanders.
I didn't have a black that bled as nicely as hers but I liked how the base color was close to my nail color so any bald spots weren't obvious. I managed to "swirl" polish back into most of the bald areas this time anyway :) I accidentally ended up with too much black on my ring finger but I'm happy with it overall. It's a huge improvement from my previous drag marble attempts which never even made it on the blog. I think my middle finger is my favorite.
Base is Am I Making Myself Claire? from Nicole by OPI's Modern Family collection. This is a really nice soft lilac creme. It looks a bit more pink in some lighting. Formula was perfect. I did the marble design with Avon Rapid Black and my tiniest dotting tool.
Don't forget to show the other Twinsies some love!

It sounds quite easy!
ReplyDeleteYa it isn't too hard... It's easier if you use more watery polishes so they will fill in the lines you make during the design and you get less bald areas
DeleteLike a dark smoke :)
ReplyDeleteHehe yeah I guess my random swirls do look like smoke :)
DeleteIt looks pretty good to me! I've tried drag marbles before and they turn out pretty nice for me too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lisa! This is actually my first successful one :)
DeleteThis looks so cool :D
ReplyDeleteI need to try drag marble some day :)
It truly looks like smoke on your nails :D
xx
Thanks! Ya you should try!
DeleteI like the surprising patterns achieved by mixing two or more polishes. Your drag marble looks like smoke fumes - I like it!
ReplyDeleteI like this dry marble..also it is the hardest thing to get right. They make it look so easy in the videos ;)

Thanks Sony! Haha yeah it was definitely a bit harder than it looks
DeleteThese are gorgeous!! I really like the colors together!
ReplyDeleteThe colors that you chose to marble with are great for each other!
ReplyDeleteReminds me of artwork.
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty! I love the color combo!
ReplyDeleteVery nice. It always seems so random as to whether a polish will marble (dry or wet) or not and it looks like you hit the jackpot. (Love the name of the polish too ;) )
