Hi girls! (and guys?) Today I have a different kind of post to share. A post I wish wasn't necessary... I came across this nail art kit at my local Winners and thought the pink mani looked like Sammy aka the Nailasaurus' hand. I didn't remember seeing it on her blog but with a quick Google search for "Nailasaurus studs" I found this:
They took her "Studded Jeans" mani, changed the polish color to pink to match the kit and blurred out the watermark. (images used with permission)
The black mani on the side is stolen from the Nailasaurus as well. This is her "Spots or Stripes" mani. Again her watermark has been blurred out, the color of the polish has been changed, and the image has also been stretched so her nails look longer. You can clearly tell it is the same picture though from where the light is hitting the nails, as well as the number and spacing of the studs.
The company, Almar Sales, has many other nail kits that also appear to have stolen images on them from other nail bloggers. Many of them have a smudge where a watermark seems to have been removed. Unfortunately I was not able to identify them myself. I was hoping if I post them maybe someone else will recognize them and let the blogger know!
Stupid kids stealing images on Instagram is one thing. But a company making money selling nail products using pictures from bloggers without any monetary compensation, permission, or even credit is another thing entirely.
I find it ironic that they put their copyright on the box. Umm ok... The picture you used isn't even yours. And come on you can't copyright sticking studs on your nails.
Oh no. Hope they asked permission before using the pictures.
ReplyDeleteThat's terrible! :(
ReplyDeleteIKR? :(
DeleteThat's terrible! They should atleast pay the blogger for using their pictures.
ReplyDeleteya... they can't just use pictures without permission... just because "they're on the internet" there is still copyright
Deleteoh hell no! That's so wrong! I hate seeing things like these! :(
ReplyDeleteikr! me too! :(
DeleteBulldinky!!! They're so dumb. It's surprising they steal! They woulda made out better if they asked permission. If the blogger allowed them to use the pic, then it's likely the blogger would've given free exposure on the blog.
ReplyDeleteI agree Jacqui! do they really think that people buying nail art kits wouldn't read nail art blogs and recognize these pictures? I would recognize The Nailasaurus' hand anywhere haha... Ya I would honestly be flattered if someone asked and I would probably post about it too... I would probably be willing to provide an unwatermarked version of the picture too so it would look much better than a hand with random blurs on it lol
