Blue/Purple Gradient with OPI Unfor-Greta-Bly Blue and China Glaze Coconut Kiss

I can't believe I forgot to post this! I'm so behind on editing pictures and posting :( I was going to do a post yesterday but I didn't end up having any time. I went to the Tegan & Sara concert and they were really good! I'm also just trying to enjoy the last bit of summer and free time before I start night classes in addition to full time work... :'(

Anyway I think this was 2 coats (can't really remember now) of China Glaze Coconut Kiss and then a gradient using OPI Unforgretably Blue. I use a wedge shaped makeup sponge for my gradients and paint both colors directly onto the sponge, overlapping them slightly on the sponge. I then go over each nail several times, making sure to go back and forth with the sponge to further blend the colors. I learned this technique from Colette of SimpleLittlePleasures on YouTube. There are other methods but this is my personal favorite.

I'm really happy with the way this gradient turned out. I entered this mani into 2 nail art contests... wish me luck!

Are you ready for fall? I feel like I haven't had enough of summer nail colors yet... and there's so many summer nail looks I still haven't got around to :(

  1. I love this gradient! It inspired me to try my first gradient and it turned out looking awesome! I'm sort of ready for fall colors, but like you, there are a ton of summer colors I haven't used yet...but I also like to throw some summer colors in the mix when it is dark and cold here!

    1. Thanks Juliana! You're right I shouldn't be so strict about following seasons when picking colors! Let me know if you post pictures of your gradient! I didn't see it on your blog and I would love to see it! :)
