Today I have some stuff I received from Born Pretty Store for review :) This mani was inspired by my boyfriend's t-shirt but all my coworkers thought I did it for Easter... Guess it does kind of look like Easter eggs! I really like the subtle overlay look of the tribal print on the shirt. I decided to add pink to it too since I was doing a marbling technique rather than a gradient.
For the base I started with one coat of Layla No. 23 (white). Then I used Swanette aka NailStamp4Fun's marbling with stamper technique. I couldn't get this technique to work at all with my Konad stamper... You really need a squishy stamper for this! I used the Pueen squishy stamper. Here it is before the stamping. Please excuse the bad cleanup and dry cuticles!
For the marble I used China Glaze For Audrey (blue), Color Club Macaroon Swoon (yellow) and an unlabelled Color Club pink (sorry I have so many unlabelled Color Club pinks from sets I bought at Winners).
Then I stamped using Born Pretty Store plate Q Girl 018 and white stamping polish from Born Pretty Store. Use my code SL10K31 for 10% off!
The Born Pretty Store plates now come wrapped in a cute frosted plastic envelope. There is a blue film on it that you need to remove before use.
The plates now have a plastic backing too which is nice! No more sharp edges to worry about :)
I really like the full nail tribal pattern on this plate! It's so on trend right now. That's pretty much why I chose this plate haha I've been wanting a tribal print plate for a while. The image was engraved well and I didn't have any issues with it. I really like how large the area is too! My thumb nails are quite wide and I usually can't cover them with typical full nail stamping images. This one won't be a problem for girls with longer or wide nails!
I really love the line of squares image on this plate too. It reminds me of Versace! Not sure if that pattern has a name...? I also like the square spiral image. This might be a good alternative to similar nail vinyls that I've seen. I'm not sure if I would personally use the animals and masks on this plate but they are definitely unique and would be fun for theme designs.
The stamping polish is quite opaque however I think the marble pattern was too light, particularly the yellow. It seems like the white stamping didn't show up but there just isn't enough contrast to see it in some areas. I think the white stamping polish would show up better over a darker color. I'll definitely try it sometime and add it to this post!
Love how soft these nails look . Very pretty tribal print too.
ReplyDeletethanks Lisa! I just wish it was a bit more noticeable but oh well
