Deborah Lippmann Across the Universe over Essie Aruba Blue

Hi everyone! I'm here with a forgotten swatch today... I can't believe Across the Universe never made it on my blog before! It was a favourite of mine when I first got into nail polish... my first real polish "splurge" and I've worn it many times! Well better late than never as they say right?

 Deborah Lippmann Across the Universe is a dark blue jelly base with medium sized green and blue hex glitter along with smaller blue glitters. I found the base a bit too dark and opaque so it would cover up the glitter when I wore it on its own... I much prefer layering it although I have seen it on it's own on other blogs and it looks great so I'm not sure if maybe my coats were too thick so I ended up with too much base maybe? Shown is 2 coats over Essie Aruba Blue. Layering combo copied from Evonnz because these two are just so perfect together! Love!

And here it is matte using Deborah Lippmann Flat Top. I think I personally prefer Across the Universe matte... What about you? Do you prefer Across the Universe matte or shiny?

    That polish looks so good! I like it both matte and glossy but the matte one makes the glitters really pop on the nails.

      Thanks Lisa! Yeah I guess that's why I prefer it matte :) the glitters do stand out more!

    Woow what a deep blue! And the hex glitters are *__* But I prefer the shining version to the matte one :P

      Ya it's a pretty deep blue :) the hex glitters really make this polish!

    wow this is a fantastic blue and that top coat suits it perfectly, i especially love the matte version of it. it's weird: when i see matte manis i love em but when i wear matte on my own nails it's just eew!

      Have you tried matte shimmer/glitter? I don't like matte creme polishes they look flat and chalky

      thnks for the advise!it sounds so surprising to me: mattifying glitter and shimmer, like the bling itself! i will defenetly try that asap, can't even imagine, and let you know! :)

    Holy wow, this Essie is gorgeous!!! And it looks beautiful with the glitter. I'm not sure which version I prefer, matte or shiny. Both look pretty.
