Turquoise Stone Nails

This week's Twinsie Tuesday theme is "Inspired by Jewelry." I don't wear much jewelry normally... Just a few small diamond studs in my ear lobes and a small hoop in my conch piercing... And my Fitbit Charge HR. I wasn't feeling inspired by any of my own jewelry so I decided to attempt a turquoise stone mani since it's a look I really like but never got around to doing.

I started with 2 coats of The Face Shop GR506 as my base. Then I dabbed on a bit of gold (unlabeled Cosmetic Arts polish) using the Saran Wrap technique. Then I did the water spotting technique with Sally Hansen Black Heart and Fructis hair spray. Here's a tutorial by Kristin of Lacquer Style.

I'm not completely happy with how this came out... I think the gold looks more like it was sponged on rather than veiny like the stone. I also think there's too much black and the lines are too thick. I do like the overall effect though :) What do you think?

Don't forget to show the other Twinsies some love!
