Leopard print mani swap!

OMG I'm so mad! I've lost my entire post twice now! And I think I may have accidentally posted this with just 2 pictures? Stupid forced Windows updates that for some reason just HAVE TO HAPPEN AT THAT VERY MINUTE and can't be postponed... :@

Anyway it rained all day on Saturday while I was at an outdoor concert series. So basically I spent 8 hours out in the rain and caught a cold :( It's also been really really cold here for June... 10-13 degrees Celsius (50-55 Fahrenheit) which isn't helping. I've been fighting it off all week and just haven't felt up to posting sorry!

Anyway today I have a mani swap with @spiceyz_nails to share. I posted this on Instagram earlier this week (I'm @lovestrucklacquer if you want to follow me!)

I did this mani almost a year ago now (Aug 2013) and it is easily one of my all time favorite manis. It's still my profile picture on IG! I used both polishes from the NARS x Pierre Hardy collaboration Sharks set. I did the leopard print using konad m57 and the stamping decal technique. See my original post for my info on this mani/technique.

For my recreation I decided to finally attempt freehand leopard print for the first time. I'm not very happy with the way this turned out so I'm only posting a small picture lol. I feel like the leopard spots are too big and there are too many of them. The black outlining is too thick also.

Colors Used:
Index + Pinky: Color Club - Flickr Pink* x3
Middle + Ring:
Silver base: Color Club - What a Drag x2 + China Glaze - Fairy Dust x1
Leopard Spots:
Color Club - Flickr Pink*
Color Club - Yodel Yellow*
Color Club - Tumblr Blue*
Sally Hansen - Black Heart
Dotting tool
*I won these polishes in a giveaway... I don't think they are available for purchase anywhere... sorry!

What do you think of these manis? Any tips for doing nice freehand leopard print or is it just practice?

  2. The lines are a bit thick but I still think it's cute. :) Maybe you can use a thinner brush next time? :)

    1. thanks Breena! I never thought to use a brush actually I was using my dotting tool to try to do the lines. I was worried if I used a brush it would be too smooth I wanted it to be a bit more irregular for the leopard print effect

  3. I like your original one, the 1st pic better. I agree that the lines in your recreation seem too thick. To be honest I have no clue on how to do leopard print. I've heard it's easy to do with a dotting tool but it seems easier to me to just use a stamp.
