Essie - Lots of Lux + failed stamping

Ugh Monday again... luckily today I have an extra gorgeous polish for you girls!

This is 2 coats of Lots of Lux. I am sooo in love with this texture polish! It's a gorgeous sapphire blue with tons of microglitter... mostly gold, some green and blue, and a bit of pinky-purple! It's so stunning!

I felt like this polish had more texture to it than the other 2 textures I own (Nicole by OPI - That's What I Mint and OPI - Honey Ryder) but then again I haven't worn those in a while so could just be my memory. You can see the texture quite well in the picture below.

blurry pic to show the glitter

sorry my fingers look so oily here! Guess the lighting that brings out the sparkle also shows the oil a lot more!

This stamping idea looked better in my head. I used Pueen 13 and Sally Hansen Whirlwind White. The stamping covered more than I wanted it to and I feel like you can't see the beauty of Lots of Lux anymore. I think this would've looked better if there were more space between the lines of the swirls. I also had trouble stamping over Lots of Lux because of the texture. I had to press down quite hard to get the stamping onto the texture polish. Once on, the stamping also rubbed off easily (especially since I didn't use top coat to keep the texture). You can see at the top left of my index and middle nails that the stamping didn't stick. I should've just left it plain but oh well.

This texture wore a bit better than my other two texture polishes (Nicole by OPI - That's What I Mint and OPI - Honey Ryder) but nothing amazing. I don't get how these textures last for a week on other girls... definitely not my experience! I've heard that sandwiching top coat in between is supposed to help but haven't tried it yet.

Any other tips on how to make texture polishes last longer? Any tips on how to stamp over texture polishes without the stamping rubbing off?

Don't forget to check out the other Monday Blues!

  1. That is a stunning blue texture. Haven't tried the textures from Essie but great to know you like their formula on it. I actually quite like the stamping on top you did. As for preventing the stamping from rubbing, I hope someone can help you. I have yet to try stamping on textures myself.

    1. ya the formula is pretty good... and they wear better than OPI textures but still only 3-4 days... not 1 week like other girls experienced with textures.... thanks Lisa! :) personal preference I guess? I preferred it plain

  2. I love this! I wouldn't have know there was an issue with the stamping if you didn't say anything. I have no advice on stamping because I always have problems and I haven't posted my stamping yet!

    1. Thanks Micki! I guess we are all our own worst critics when it comes to our manis! It can take a little while to master stamping... try just stamping with konad black first if you're having issues that's the easiest polish to use i've found :)

  3. This polish is gorgeous! I think your stamping turned out really nice - you can still see the sparkliness underneath. :) I've been hesitant to stamp over textured polishes for the reasons you state here, though. :/

    2. Thanks Justina! I guess you can still see the sparkle a bit just not as much as I would like! Ya... stamping over textured polishes looks really interesting but unfortunately it is short lived... worked better when I stamped with actual stamping polish vs. nail polish but still wasn't that great i think maybe 2 days before it looked horrible?

    1. thanks Traci! I just wish the stamping would last longer... it rubs off pretty fast since there's no topcoat :(

  6. I love those textured polishes that look like crushed gems. I know it sounds like it defeats the purpose, but I often put one coat of topcoat on my polishes like this. The texture and beauty still mostly come through, and it does make them last longer. It does make them less matte, though, of course.

    1. i've heard of putting topcoat between the first and second layer of texture polish to make it last longer without taking away from the finish... haven't tried it yet though
