#LLlucky - Color Club Wild Cactus + Deborah Lippmann Boom Boom Pow

This month's theme from The Lacquer Legion was "lucky." Omg I was so stuck on this theme. Seriously I couldn't think of anything to do. I feel like I've had the nail art equivalent of "writer's block" for the longest time. I've just been posting swatches of polishes. :( I really couldn't figure out what to do with this theme. I didn't want it to end up looking like a late St. Patty's Day/Chinese New Year mani. I ended up going with green + gold glitter. Still kind of St. Patty's Day-esque but at least no four leaf clovers!

I didn't have any luck at all taking pictures of this mani though :( complete fail! The color is so off! I tried to color correct and it's still a bit off... and now my skin looks all weird and yellow because I'm still pretty clueless at trying to adjust the white balance on my camera. I'm lucky that most of the time my camera gets it right. But not today.

If you want to see what Wild Cactus really looks like check out this post from Chalkboard Nails

Here is a shot of this mani using the auto setting on my camera. It's a beautiful dusty blue color that my camera invented lol. Hey Color Club maybe you should make this color! It's nice right?

Do you have any tips on how to photograph colors accurately? Any tips on how to adjust the color of the polish without making your skin a really weird color?

  1. I think this is so pretty! I have this and mine looks more green. Either way its gorg! I hate when cameras do that. I have a very simple camera that is almost auto. Its a Lumix. Its easy to use and to download pictures. I had a fancier one but it was a pain. Sorry I couldn't help more.

    1. Ya it definitely is more green! Like I said though my camera messed up the color and I'm not very good at correcting the color :(

  2. I know how you feel about colors not showing up properly. It happens to me sometimes so its frustrating. I had no clue what to do with this theme as well. I did something way out of the box though but I'm happy with how it turned out. Posting it later in the day :)

  3. Omg! I can relate. My swatch of Orly Green with Envy looks like a blue shade though it's supposed to be green :(

    1. Ya I have the most difficulty with vibrant/neon blues/greens... I was actually surprised I had issues with this one though it's much darker than the colors I normally have trouble with :(

  4. lol they should totally make that color! Hmm in photoshop you're able to just select a specific area or color to adjust, but not sure how to do it if you're adjusting the whole pic itself :/ I still have trouble capturing colors correctly on cameras!

    1. Ya it's so frustrating sometimes getting the color right! I never realized how off colors can be on camera until I started nail blogging :( I really need to get around to learning how to use Photoshop... I only really know how to use it to crop and do my curved watermark right now lol :p
