I was originally going to do some freehand flowers for this week's "flowers" prompt but I gave up out of frustration. I'm not sure if my nail art brush is too stiff or what... but whenever I try to use my acrylic pants I can never seem to get a smooth even line. I keep ending up with a dent that runs down the middle of my lines :( Anyway since I was using acrylic paint I was able to scrub it off with water and an old toothbrush. I decided to do some stamped flowers instead but wanted to push myself to try something new so I went with some two tone stamping. I think a white base might look better next time, but I couldn't be bothered to redo my base color. I kind of like the way these colors look over nude too :)
To do this I painted a stripe of each color down the length of the plate. I left a small gap in between the two colors. As I scraped down the length of the plate the colors mixed a bit in the middle creating this effect.
I smudged the stamping a bit on my middle finger. My ring finger ended up orange only so I stamped the single flower image over it in pink. I was too tired at this point to redo it. I really need to get a white stamper... it was so hard to see these colors on my dark pink konad stamper!
What I used:
Base: OPI - Don't Pretzel My Buttons (2 coats)
Orange: Color Club - Tech Red
Pink: Color Club - Flickr Pink
Pueen plate 19
I don't understand how Tech Red got it's name. It's clearly orange. Personally it bugs me when a polish has a name containing a color that does not match the actual color of the polish. Maybe I'm just OCD or something. Oh and if you're wondering where to get these I got them in a giveaway... They are Yahoo exclusives and I don't think they're available for purchase anywhere... sorry!
Here are the prompts for the rest of the challenge. Feel free to join us! :)
