Today's post is my first post of my first ever 31 day challenge! I realized that I can probably paint my nails once a day for 31 days but it's getting myself to edit pictures and write posts that will be my real challenge. I was supposed to do this post last night but kept procrastinating... I re-painted my toes a few times... editing pictures just isn't my favorite thing to do lol
Anyway this look is inspired by this mani by Missy aka Gnarly Gnails. I loved the tone on tone stripes look and recreated it in mint colors. This design is surprisingly easy to do too. Just paint half your nail one color, and the other half the other color. Once dry, apply striping tape across your nails and then paint each half again with the other color. See Missy's tutorial here it will make more sense! When I first saw this design I thought she used like 10 little pieces of striping tape and it took her like an hour but no it's so easy! I'll definitely be doing this again!
For my take on this design I had this idea of using the stripes to "transition" between the two colors. I played around with the thickness of the stripes to try and create that effect.
The polishes I used are China Glaze - Refresh Mint (lighter one) and Ciate - Pepperminty (darker one).
What do you think of this mani?
