Review: Born Pretty Store Floral Pattern Water Decals

Today I have some pretty Born Pretty Store water decals to review! Please bear in mind this is my first time ever using water decals so I don't really have anything to compare to! If you're interested in purchasing these use my discount code SL10K31 for 10% off! :)

cut to size for one nail

 Notes on usage:
- Use warm water! I know it's summer but I couldn't get the decal to slide off easily if I had it in cold or room temperature water
- Do not let the decal sit in the water for more than the recommended 20 seconds! Or it will get too soft and fall apart....
I wasn't intentionally leaving it in longer but there were a few that got stuck at the bottom of my cup and I couldn't pick them up with my tweezers. This is the result :( The centre of the flower is especially fragile and kind of pops out. You can see that this happened on my index nail and I tried to place the centre of the flower back where it was supposed to be... there is a bit of a gap in the middle of the flower though

I initially tried to use these decals over a light grey/blue color. I didn't realize that the white areas of the flowers are actually clear so it didn't end up looking the way I was expecting. I guess these decals are probably too thin to make any area an opaque white really, but it is still worth being aware of since I felt it limited what you could do with the decals.

Picture without top coat. I think it photographed much better this way, although you probably couldn't wear it like this without it coming off after a day or so I'm guessing.

Overall:
I really like the look of these! I love the colors and the glitter in the centre of the flowers. These were fairly easy to use. I made a few mistakes on the first few but it didn't take me too long to figure out how to use them :) They are super super thin which I liked. I don't think you would be able to see any border if you only used it on part of a nail. They were so thin I was worried they would wrinkle and be hard to flatten out on the nail but they actually flattened out really easily. I wish the white areas of the flowers showed up as white over other base colors for more possibilities in terms of layering looks but I guess that it would be hard to make it an opaque white since the decal is such a thin film. The decal on my thumb started lifting and peeling off on day 2 of wearing these, but I'm not sure if that is due to my top coat. I am nearing the bottom of my bottle of top coat (Color Club) and I have noticed my normal polish is cracking really quickly also. I haven't given these water decals a try with any other top coat. I think these are pretty reasonably priced considering the price of nail polish applique strips, although I probably would only wear them for special occasions rather than everyday. I just wish they included a few extra pieces as back up in case you mess up a nail... but overall I am happy with these and would use them again!

  4. Great review on these water nail decals! I've only tried smaller nail decals not full length ones that cover the nails. I like the smaller ones because I feel like there pretty easy to use and move around. I like the floral design of these though.

    1. I haven't tried smaller decals but I found these pretty easy to use and move around and smooth out if necessary. I think there would be more flexibility with smaller decals though in terms of doing other designs/backgrounds with the decals
